Extreme Wild: Lanterns / Stars

Picture
HOW THE ADVANTAGE WORKS:
  • Extreme Wild: Lanterns / Stars features coin holders above reels two, three and four (the three middle reels). When two coins are collected to fill a coin holder, that reel will turn wild for the next two spins.
WHEN TO PLAY

           BASIC PLAYS
  • Any active wilds in reels two or three. Active wilds will have a glowing border around the reel, with either one or two coins collected above (indicating how many more wild spins remain).
  • You can play active wilds in reel four if there are two spins remaining and there is one coin in either reel two or three. Just do one spin to see if you can land a second coin to get two reels wild at once. If not, stop playing.
  • AGGRESSIVE PLAYS
  • The data shows playing with one coin collected above both reels two and three is slightly +EV over the long run. It’s a losing play in the short term, but once you factor in hitting the free games and dice features, it should be positive over the long run. The RTP of the machines I gathered this data on is likely around 92% (I don’t know for sure, but I am basing that off of other games I have seen the payback screen for in this casino). So if you are on a sub 90% RTP machine, this might not ever be +EV. Other APs I have exchanged info with have reached similar conclusions.

  • One coin collected above both reels two and three. Play with one coin collected above all three if you want to be slightly more conservative.

Additional notes
  • This game is much more volatile compared to similar games like Golden Egypt. It’s possible to get massive line hits when you land stacks of the premium symbols. And the free games bonus can be feast-or-famine—you might get a 5x win or you might get a 100x win.
  • Only two-of-a-kind of the premium symbols (golden ingots in the Lanterns version and the Statue of Liberty in the Stars version) are needed to get a line hit.
  • Landing a dice symbol in both reels one and five will add a number of random wilds to the reels equal to the total value rolled on the dice. If wilds land on top of wilds, they turn into multipliers (similar to Regal Riches) up to 3x. And the dice symbols themselves count as wilds. The dice feature can pay very well when combined with a wild reel.
  • Whenever a coin lands, there is a chance the bonus feature above that reel will get activated. But the lanterns/stars that get built-up above the reels are fake indicators that do not offer any kind of advantage.
  • It’s possible to trigger all three features at once (free games, jackpot bonus and dice wild), but again, it triggers randomly, so there is no advantage.
  • The jackpot bonus is pre-determined, so it doesn’t matter which symbols you pick.
  • The free games bonus scatter symbols are sub-symbols, so they can appear on top of the wilds.
  • The coins (dragons in the Lanterns version and rockets in the Stars version) land on top of the regular symbols, so they don’t act as line hit blockers.
  • Extreme Wild has an RTP that ranges from 86.93% to 94.2%.
The built-up lanterns/stars above the reels are fake indicators that don’t offer any advantage.
There is an active wild in reel two that will last for one more spin. The dice feature occurred on the previous spin (note the dice symbols in reels one and five) and added seven random wilds to the reels.
Expect to get a lot of dead spins interspersed with the occasional big line hit like this.
The free games bonus is volatile but can pay very well.
