RED SILK / AZTEC CHIEF

Picture
HOW THE ADVANTAGE WORKS
  • Red Silk and its companion Aztec Chief feature coin holders above each of the reels. When two coins are collected to fill the coin holder, that reel will turn wild for the next two spins.

WHEN TO PLAY
  • Any active wilds in the first three reels. Active wilds will have a glowing gold border around the reel and either one or two coins in the coin holder above (indicating how many more spins remain).
  • You can play active wilds in reel four if there are two spins remaining and there are two or more coins in the first three reels. Just do one spin to see if you can land a second coin to get two reels wild at once. If not, stop playing.
Additional notes
  • Many inexperienced APs will play this just like Golden Egypt, meaning they play when there are at least two coins in the first three reels. Other APs play when there is one coin in each of the first three reels. Neither of these scenarios are +EV. Compared to Golden Egypt, Red Silk and Aztec Chief have more of the game’s payout spread across the progressives and jackpot pick bonus. Therefore, the line hits with the coins just aren’t as lucrative. I’ve logged hundreds of sessions and have good data confirming this. Other experienced APs I am friends with have reached the same conclusion.
  • The lanterns (in Red Silk) and masks (in Aztec Chief) on display above the reels are meant to trick players—the jackpot bonus isn’t any more likely to hit if more of the prizes are revealed.
  • You can tap the bet level on the main touchscreen to check the machine without having to bet (or even put money in).
  • One notable difference between Red Silk and Aztec Chief is that the screen on Red Silk will always default back to the 75 credit bet a few minutes after you check the machine, while Aztec Chief will always stay on the last bet level that you checked. This makes Aztec Chief slightly easier to hustle because you can leave it on the 750 credit bet after you check it and then just glance at that number to see if anyone has played it (and switched bet levels) since you last checked.
  • Red Silk and Aztec Chief have an RTP that ranges from 86% to 95%.
This handpay on Red Silk was the result of an incredibly lucky free games bonus. Don’t let the lanterns above trick you—even though nine of the ten prizes are revealed, the jackpot bonus isn’t any closer to hitting.
The second reel will be wild for one more spin, while the third reel will be wild for two more spins.
This may look +EV with a coin in each of the first four reels, but I would avoid playing in situations like this (and most other experienced APs would agree).
This handpay on Aztec Chief was the result of someone leaving behind active wilds in the first four reels.
