FAT FORTUNES
HOW THE ADVANTAGE WORKS (Fat Cat / Puffy Penguin / Jelly Jams)
WHEN TO PLAY
- Fat Fortunes: Fat Cat / Puffy Penguin / Jelly Jams features a bonus that is triggered when six fish scatter symbols land. The fish symbols that land directly on the reels disappear on the next spin, but the fish symbols that first appear above the reels are persistent and move down one position on every spin. The persistent fish symbols look identical to the other fish symbols; however, if you wait a few seconds, the persistent fish will display a shining/gleaming animation over their body.
WHEN TO PLAY
- Two fish symbols above the reels.
- Any time there will be three persistent fish symbols (look for the shining animation that displays every few seconds) on the next spin. Don’t count the fish that aren’t shiny or the fish on the bottom row because those will disappear next spin.
Additional notes
- This is a really good under-the-radar advantage game that most APs don’t know about. I recommend only checking it when you are sure there are no other hustlers in the vicinity. Other hustlers may be aware of the game, but if they don’t know the trick about the persistent fish being shiny, they are likely to get frustrated and give up on checking the machine.
- The persistent fish symbols often come in stacks, which is why it is always an excellent play with two fish above the reels.
- Only a maximum of two fish can appear above the reels at once.
- Only a maximum of four persistent fish can be on the reels at one time. This differs from the similar game Kraken Unleashed in that all six special symbols needed for the bonus can’t come down from the top. You need to land at least two regular fish symbols on the reels in addition to the persistent fish symbols.
- The orange fish with credit prizes and jackpots can also be persistent—they will shine just like the other fish.
- The penguin/cat face symbol is wild and will multiply all winnings by 2x.
- The bonus feature can be volatile, but it usually pays very well.
- I’ve never seen the Jelly Jams theme of Fat Fortunes, but it looks like it has strawberries rather than fish. I’m guessing the same trick applies, where the persistent strawberries will be shiny.
- This game comes in multiple denominations, so be sure to check them all for plays.
