LUNAR DISC / FORTUNE DISC
HOW THE ADVANTAGE WORKS
- In Lunar Disc and its companion Fortune Disc, players accumulate discs that land on the reels. Once six discs are collected, the game enters a bonus feature that selects a random symbol on the screen and then turns all instances of that symbol wild.
WHEN TO PLAY - If five discs are already collected (look directly on the bet pad).
Additional notes
- I’ve heard from other APs that playing with four discs is +EV, but I doubt that is the case. Especially on the 300 credit bet that starts with three discs pre-filled. I have a hard time believing the game would become +EV so quickly. Lunar Disc isn’t at any of the local casinos around me, so the only time I have played it is while traveling. I haven’t logged enough sessions to definitively say for sure, so I would recommend playing at five discs only.
- The fact that the 75 credit bet starts with zero discs and the 300 credit bet starts with three makes me think the number of discs collected couldn’t have that huge of an effect on the overall payout of the game. Typically, games will have the same RTP on all bet levels within the same denomination. There are exceptions for sure—I’ve seen PAR sheets that show a slightly higher RTP for the larger bet sizes and there are games where the player is only eligible for progressives at the higher bets. But there would have to be a drastic RTP difference between the 75 credit bet (that starts with zero discs) and the 300 credit bet (that starts with three discs) if the discs effected the outcome that much. Either that or the discs would have to come up less frequently on the higher bet levels (or some other mechanism to balance out the RTP between bet levels). I’m not saying it’s not possible for a game to have such a different RTP between bet levels, just that it would be unusual if that were the case. So I wouldn’t be surprised that even with five discs, this is a marginal +EV game that really depends on the specific machine’s RTP setting.
- During the feature, when the lunar disc spins to choose which symbols will turn wild, if it stops on another disc, another lunar disc will be added to the board. Both lunar discs will then spin again. More discs can be added in this fashion—I’ve seen up to five at once. You can expect huge payouts in situations where this happens.
- The lunar disc symbols are usually quick to accumulate and it’s common for multiple discs to land at once. So you can expect to hit the feature quickly. That said, the feature doesn’t always pay out very well, so don’t expect to come out ahead every time.
- Be sure to check all denominations for plays.
