POTS O' LUCK
HOW THE ADVANTAGE WORKS
WHEN TO PLAY
- Pots O’ Luck features coin holders above reels two, three and four. When three coins are collected to fill the coin holder above the reel, that reel will turn wild for the next three spins (until the three coins are gone). This game is a borderline AP trap, so be sure to understand how the game really works before playing.
WHEN TO PLAY
- Important: This is a tricky game to hustle because there is either a glitch in the game, or more likely, an anti-hustling feature. In the nearly identical games Captain Riches and Tiki Fortune, a glowing gold border around a reel with coins above indicates an active wild reel. The number of coins remaining tells you how many wild spins are left. This game has the same feature, however, the gold border doesn’t change between bet levels. If the $0.75 bet level had a gold border around the second reel, but a player switched to the $7.50 bet level, then the $7.50 bet would look like it had active wilds remaining if it had any coins above that reel (which it almost always does because the game is rigged to make the first two coins land very quickly). Here is the trick to tell if the wilds are actually active: the background behind the coins needs to be orange, not green. If you see a gold border, but there is green background behind the coins, then the wilds are NOT active.
1: The multipliers in the first two reels with coin holders (reels two and three) add up to 10x or more. Count coins without multipliers as 1x. Examples: two 3x multipliers + two 2x multipliers, three 3x multipliers + 1 regular coin.
2: Any active wilds in reels two and three.
3: Active wilds in reel four if there are any multiplier coins (2x or 3x) above the reel.
Additional notes
- This is actually a game where other hustlers can mess with each other. They could play off any wild reels and then switch to another bet level that already has two coins above that reel. The gold border (and reel symbols) will stay and make it appear as if that bet level had active wilds remaining. Just remember to look for the orange background behind the coins.
- If you play this game for any amount of time (or just simply check all the bet levels regularly), you will find it’s extremely common to have two coins above all three reels. This should be your first clue that it couldn’t possibly always be +EV in that state. The game rules state that the chances of collecting coins on a reel may be different depending on the number of coins already collected. This essentially means the first two coins land very quickly, but the third coin is much harder to get. Therefore, the game purposely tricks players into thinking it is in a profitable state when it is not.
- The pots of gold on display above the reels are also meant to trick players—the jackpot bonus isn’t any more likely to hit if more of the prizes are revealed.
- You can tap the bet level on the main touchscreen to check the machine without having to bet (or even put money in).

I interpret this to mean the third coin is much harder to land than the first two (which is definitely the case).
